Qualcomm unveiled its next-generation 5G modem and networking systems at MWC 2024, significantly advancing the mobile industry. Among these, the Snapdragon X80 5G Modem-RF System and the FastConnect 7900 Mobile Connectivity System stand out as noteworthy developments. Reportedly, the Snapdragon X80 modem can offer up to 10 Gbps download and 3.5 Gbps upload. Improved network capacity, lower latency, and reliability are supported by the 5G Advanced support of the modem.
The performance and power efficiency further improves due to AI-powered optimizations. It can be used in several devices like computers, XR devices, smartphones, mobile broadband devices, fixed wireless access points, automobiles, and industrial IoT.
The FastConnect 7900 Mobile Connectivity System, on the other hand, is the first chip that incorporates Bluetooth, UWB, and Wi-Fi 7 technologies. It has support for Wi-Fi 7 that offers up to 5.8 Gbps data speeds. The performance of location-based services improves given the Bluetooth 5.4 and UWB capabilities. It features a low-power design that leads to longer battery life.
In addition to this, the company revealed its Qualcomm AI Hub. It will focus on improving next-generation AI-based connectivity experiences. The FastConnect 7900 system, the Snapdragon X80 modem, and other Qualcomm platforms are all compatible with the AI Hub without any issues.
