NavStar upgrade allows you to hide the gesture bar on One UI 6.1

Samsung is releasing an update to the NavStar app that will allow you (via Mishaal Rahman and @RydahDoesTech) to disable the gesture navigation bar on Galaxy smartphones and tablets. So, if you prefer to conceal the navigation gesture bar to see more material on the screen, you can now do so with your Galaxy smartphone.

NavStar enables you to conceal the gesture navigation bar on phones running One UI 6.1

On Galaxy devices, you may navigate the software using three methods: on-screen navigation buttons, Android’s gesture navigation bar, or Samsung’s own navigation gestures. The Android gesture navigation bar appears at the bottom of the screen, from which you may swipe up to access the home screen or slide up and hold to display the multitasking menu. You may now conceal the navigation bar on the Galaxy S24 running One UI 6.1 with Good Lock’s NavStar module. This update is now available for Galaxy devices running One UI 6.1, which is based on Android 14; the Galaxy S24 is the only device that presently supports that version.

To conceal the gesture navigation bar on the Galaxy S24 with One UI 6.1, launch the NavStar app. At the bottom, select the Swipe Gestures tab, then enable the NavStar and Enable Extra Gesture Settings toggles. Now, go to the Settings app and select Display » Navigation Bar » More Options. Then, turn on the Gesture Hint toggle. The gesture bar should now be hidden. You may still navigate with the same motions. Even the Circle to Search action is compatible with this new option.

We reported about Samsung’s retirement of its own gesture navigation technology in One UI 6.1 a few days ago. The Galaxy S24 is the first to miss out on the company’s navigation gesture feature. Some users were disappointed to see it leave. However, Samsung is restoring that option to One UI 6.1 with an upcoming upgrade to the NavStar app.
