Neo Berlin 2087: Dystopian cyberpunk RPG in the gameplay trailer

With Neo Berlin 2087, Elysium Game Studio is currently developing a very promising action role-playing game that not only paints a dark vision of the future of the German capital, but also promises an exciting conspiracy story.

The developers’ first work also has a lot to offer in terms of visuals, as a new trailer now shows. The gameplay preview was released in the run-up to Gamescom 2024, which takes place next week in Cologne. The video shows a mixture of actual game scenes and various cutscenes in which we get to know the game’s protagonists better and can even recognize a few places in futuristic Berlin.

Cyberpunk history in the middle of Berlin

The plot of Neo Berlin 2087 centers on the experienced detective Noland, who is tasked with solving the case after the murder of the police chief. To do this, however, he must first find and protect Natalie, the murdered man’s daughter, as she appears to play a crucial role in solving the case. Of course, there is much more to the story and Nolan becomes entangled in a world of lies, intrigue and betrayal.

Fight, sneak and investigate

The gameplay of Neo Berlin 2087 combines action with stealth elements and investigative work, with players experiencing the action alternately from a first and third person perspective. In the video, for example, you can see how the protagonist uses knives, pistols with silencers, automatic weapons and grenades. It is also known that he can hack into the memory of suspects and thus gain access to hidden information. Players will also be able to adapt their character’s weapons and abilities to their own ideas.

All of this is of course somewhat reminiscent of games such as Cyberpunk 2077 or Deus Ex, and the Berlin-based development team also claims to have been inspired by films such as Blade Runner and Ghost in the Shell. Neo Berlin 2087 will be released for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, but the release date is still unknown.
