Netflix Prices Increase in the US

Netflix does what Netflix does. Namely increase the prices again. The streaming giant will also increase the costs of its services in 2026. As is often the case, the first step is in the USA, where all subscription variants will now be more expensive.
Netflix will soon cost as much as cable TV
Netflix is raising prices again in the United States after just 14 months. The company has not yet made the step official, but it has on the support pages The new price structure for the US market can already be found. Press representatives confirmed the price increase to US media upon request. As always, Germany and Europe are likely to follow suit later in the year. From now on, Netflix is demanding loudly Android Authority for the cheapest subscription in the USA 8.99 US dollars (around 8 euros) and thus increases the price for the version of its streaming offer, which is co-financed by advertising, by one dollar (around 1 euros). As a reminder, Netflix introduced the basic plan with advertising in fall 2022 at a price of $6.99 (around 6 euros).
Premium subscription in future for $27
The other variants are also becoming more expensive. The ad-free version of Netflix will cost two dollars (around 2 euros) more and therefore 19.99 dollars (around 18 euros). The premium version, which comes with 4K support, spatial audio and the ability to play Netflix content on four devices at the same time, is also two dollars (around 2 euros) more expensive and therefore now costs 26.99 dollars (around 25 euros). If you want to add another user to your subscription, you also have to pay more. In the case of the version with advertising, an additional 7.99 dollars (around 7 euros) per month is due, while the ad-free subscriptions cost 9.99 dollars (around 9 euros) more. In the USA, the changed prices are expected to be rolled out to existing users within the next few weeks and will be due from the next billing cycle.
Netflix spokespeople justified the move by saying that the higher prices are intended to “reflect improvements in the broad entertainment offering and the quality of the service.” With the increasing revenue from its users’ subscriptions, Netflix is increasingly financing the acquisition of rights for certain sporting events or leagues as well as reality TV shows in addition to classic series and film productions. Most recently, the company attracted attention because it was involved in a bidding race for the takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD), with the contract going to competitor Paramount Skydance after a long tug of war. Netflix earned an additional $2.8 billion (around 2.6 billion euros) by foregoing the takeover of WBD, which had already been considered decided.
