Netflix: These are the new films and series in July 2025
As usual, Netflix also expanded its streaming offer with new films and series in July 2025. The highlights include the second season of Sandman and Happy Gilmore 2. There are also a lot of exciting documentation.
Sandman and under the black sun
In the second season of the Netflix series “Sandman”, Morphheus continues his journey through the realm of dreams and beyond from July 3. While old conflicts remain unsolved, new threats come to light that not only question the dream -rich, but also the order of the entire universe. The series remains true to its atmospheric narrative style and deepens the complex relationships between the eternal, their opponents and the world of people. Part 2 of the second season will be available from July 24th.
In “Under the Black Sun”, Netflix also shows a dystopian world, but without mystical beings. Instead, the sun has become a fatal danger. While society is disintegrating, survivors are fighting for life in an enemy environment. Between distrust, guilt and new power structures, the series asks the question of what remains of humanity when all collateral disappear.
Trainwreck documentaries via the viral internet
Two of the new Netflix documentaries show this month what can happen if a Facebook post goes viral. “Trainwreck: The storm on Area 51” illuminates the phenomenon around the call of 20-year-old Matty Roberts to storm the secret US military base. What started as a joke developed into a real mass event with thousands of participants in the desert of Nevada in 2019.
The documentary reconstructs the events, speaks to the participants and shows how a meme became a cultural event with unexpected consequences. “Trainwreck: The real Project-X party”, on the other hand, tells the story of a house party that was completely out of control-inspired by the film of the same name and fueled by social media. What started as a private celebration escalated to a large -scale police operation with property damage, injured and international attention.
