Modified design for Apple’s budget iPhone

Apple could refresh its entry-level smartphone next year. According to rumors, the iPhone SE 4 will come with a completely revised design and say goodbye to the outdated look of the current iPhone SE 3. It is expected that Apple will use a modified housing from the iPhone 14 for the new model. A leaked image of an alleged protective case for the iPhone SE 4 now provides the first clues about the possible camera arrangement.

The well-known leaker Sonny Dickson shared a photo of a case on SE 4 could use the iPhone 14’s housing as a base, but could not adopt its camera setup. Instead, a dual camera could be used, but without an ultra-wide-angle lens. The main sensor is expected to be the 48-megapixel sensor of the iPhone 15.

Face ID instead of Touch ID

In addition to the new camera arrangement, the leaked case also shows a cutout for the well-known mute switch. Buyers of the budget iPhone will probably have to do without the action button on the current Pro models. The iPhone SE 4 will use Face ID instead of Touch ID for unlocking for the first time. The characteristic display notch is also expected.

For the display itself, experts expect a 6.1-inch OLED panel. An aluminum alloy with a glass back could be used as the housing material. In order to keep costs down, Apple will probably use older components from the iPhone 13 and 14.

Powerful chip at an affordable price

Despite the low price of probably under 500 dollars (around 456 euros), the iPhone SE 4 should impress in terms of performance. According to rumors, it could even outperform the standard iPhone 15 and 15 Plus in terms of performance. The reason given is Apple’s new AI functions, which the SE 4 is supposed to support.
