New mobile router from Fritz goes on sale

After the announcement last year, the FritzBox 6825 4G is finally available. The compact mobile router comes with Wi-Fi 6, global reception and a first for Fritz: the power supply runs via USB-C. We summarize what the device does and costs.
Starting signal for mobile LTE router
Interested parties had to wait almost six months, but now the time has come. After the first presentation in August 2025 and the renewed mention shortly before the start of MWC 2026, the Berlin manufacturer Fritz is officially bringing its FritzBox 6825 4G onto the market. The device is primarily aimed at users who need a flexible internet connection when traveling, in a holiday home or while camping.
Technically, the router uses a category six LTE modem. This allows download rates of up to 300 megabits per second, while uploads are limited to 50 megabits per second. The box uses the current Wi-Fi 6 standard for local data distribution. However, the device only operates in the 2.4 gigahertz band. Although this offers a greater range, it does not reach the top speeds of the 5 gigahertz network. A Gigabit LAN port on the back connects wired devices if necessary.
Like manufacturer Fritz in his Press release writes about the market launch of the router, this model says goodbye to the classic barrel connector. Instead, a USB-C socket is used for the first time. This allows operation on compatible power supplies from notebooks or smartphones. It is also possible to use a power bank, which reduces dependence on sockets.
Global frequencies but lack of 5G
According to the information, the integrated modem covers a variety of frequency bands, which should make it easier to use worldwide. In addition to the FDD bands common in Europe, the hardware supports various TDD bands, says Fritz. This is likely to be particularly relevant for trips to Asia or Africa, as providers there often rely on these technologies. Through “carrier aggregation,” the modem should also be able to bundle two frequencies. However, buyers have to forego support for the modern 5G mobile communications standard with this model.
Compact dimensions and software
With dimensions of 65 x 135 x 98 millimeters, the housing remains compact and is strongly reminiscent of its predecessor, the FritzBox 6820 LTE. On the software side, the usual FritzOS runs. It provides functions such as VPN via WireGuard, includes the parental controls usual from other models and allows integration into existing mesh networks. The router is also suitable as a device for the “Fritz Failsafe”. FritzBox 6825 4G – complete specifications
