New Update For Windows 10 21H1 and 21H2 In Preview

Microsoft has released an update in the Release Preview Channel for Windows Insiders who are still using Windows 10. This is the preview for the optional update, which will probably be available to all Windows 10 users from next week.

As always, it is a cumulative, non-security-relevant update. The update KB5007253 for Windows 10 21H1 and 21H2 can be used to start in the Release Preview Channel. The build numbers are 19043.1379 and 19044.1379. This update is a preview of the fixes for December Patch Day. As always, it only contains bug fixes, but no security patches. The update fixes a number of problems that occurred after the patch day and some have been known for a long time. These include problems with the Windows Subsystem for Linux, with Excel, Edge, and printers. Screen capture and search index bugs have also been addressed.

KB5007253 should then also start as an optional update outside of the Insider program from next week. The bug fixes contained therein will – if nothing comes up – be automatically distributed to all users on Patch Day in December.

Many changes in the preview

If you would already benefit from the bug fixes, you can get the update as an Insider. However, Microsoft does not start the distribution in one fell swoop, as it does with usual updates. The update is managed under KB number 5007253 and is gradually being made available. Information on this can be found in the Windows Blog. With this update, the Windows team is testing various bug fixes and improvements. Known problems with the update have not yet been reported.
