New updates for FritzBox 5590 and 5530 Fiber

The path towards FritzOS 8.0 is being paved
While AVM is already starting to roll out the new FritzOS 8.0, the Berlin IT company is starting to work on further updates for fiber optic FritzBoxes in its own laboratory. Among other things, the routers FritzBox 5590 and 5530 Fiber are being supplied with new FritzOS 7.90 betas. List of improvements is more extensive than expected.
In addition to various bug fixes in the user interface displays, AVM is also taking care of errors in the WireGuard LAN-LAN connections, in the IPv6 settings and inadvertent router restarts in connection with WLAN scans of the 5 GHz band. How to get the AVM Lab update
It is important to emphasize that these versions are laboratory firmware. They can be unstable and should therefore only be installed by experienced users on non-critical systems. AVM recommends creating a backup of the current configuration before installation. Improvements in the FRITZ!OS 7.90 Lab
- Fixed: On PCP connections, the display of the “IPv4 address on the Internet” was missing in the connection details in the online monitor
- Fixed: When connecting the FRITZ!Box to an external modem or router, the “Port forwarding” line in the online monitor was not hidden when the Internet connection was shared (IP client mode)
- Fixed: When connecting the FRITZ!Box to an external modem, the displays for IPv6 prefix and VPN connections were not hidden in the online monitor when using the existing Internet connection (IP client mode)
- Fixed: When the language setting was “English”, the date format was not consistently adjusted in the online monitor
- Fixed: In WireGuard® LAN-LAN connections, DNS name resolution and assignment of AAAA records may not work under IPv6
- Fixed: In the IPv6 settings, the IPv6 prefix of the home network was sometimes not displayed under “used prefixes”
- Fixed: Turning Wi-Fi on/off while scanning the 5 GHz band for radar coverage (DFS) caused a reboot
- Fixed: After a restart or a setting change, the WLAN LED indicated the WLAN readiness too early
