New Video Game allows Players to Shoot up a School

A new video game called “Active Shooter” allows players to shoot up a school. The game has received severe backlash from the politicians and parents of the murdered students in Parkland, Florida. They are expressing their anger at video game makers for launching a game that simulates the players to become active shooters to terrorize a school.

This game will be released on Steam on June 6th. The game is developed by Revived Games and published by Acid, a Russian company. The company is planning to sell this game for $5 to $10 on the Steam platform.

As per the marketing materials of the game the players will have an option to either be a SWAT team member who responds to a shooting or be the actual shooter whose main aim is to “hunt and destroy.”

Here is what people have to say about this game on social media

Ryan Petty lost his 14-year-old daughter in the February shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. He said, “Despicable. Let @steam_games know games depicting “active shooter” scenarios in schools, where players shoot civilians, students & law enforcement are unacceptable”

Fred Guttenberg’s daughter died in Parkland shooting. He said, “This company should face the wrath of everyone who cares about school and public safety and it should start immediately. Do not buy this game for your kids or any other game made by this company.”

Senior US Senator from Florida Bill Nelson said, “This is inexcusable. Any company that develops a game like this in wake of such a horrific tragedy should be ashamed of itself.”

Stephanie Robinett, a Seattle-area woman has started a petition urging Valve not to release this game. She tweeted
