New Xbox Controller Available for Pre-Order on Amazon—What Could It Be?

Thanks to the ever-vigilant Wario on X, Xbox fans have something new to get excited about. A brand-new controller has surfaced, now available for pre-order on Amazon for $74.99, with an expected delivery date of February 18. While the listing is live, details about the controller remain scarce. Microsoft hasn’t made an official announcement yet, but we expect news to drop soon after this leak.
Could this be a Special Edition colorway, a limited-edition design, or something more groundbreaking? For now, all we can do is speculate—and maybe hit that pre-order button if curiosity gets the better of us.
Before You Get Too Excited
No, this isn’t the long-rumored Sebile controller many of us have been waiting for. With an MSRP of $74.99, this is almost certainly a Special Edition variant of the standard Xbox Series X|S controller.
Looking back, Microsoft has a habit of revealing Special Edition controllers early in the year. For example, last year around this time we got the vibrant Dream Vapor controller, and the year before, the Stellar Shift debuted in January. Both launches kicked off fresh design collections, including follow-ups like the Lunar Shift and various Vapor colorways, which were eventually added to the Design Lab for full customization. Naturally, I grabbed both of these controllers—R.I.P. to my wallet.
More recently, we’ve seen the Cipher series introduce retro-inspired transparent designs like Blue and Ghost. This new controller could easily expand that line—or it might be something else entirely.
What Could It Be?
If I had to guess, here are three possibilities for what this new controller might be:
- A New Cipher Color: A fresh addition to the transparent Cipher series. A green design inspired by the OG Xbox (like the 8Bitdo Xbox keyboard and mouse) would be a dream come true.
- A New Range of Controllers: It could mark the start of a completely new collection with a bold, fresh aesthetic.
- An Avowed-Themed Controller: With Avowed launching on February 13, 2025, the timing lines up. However, Xbox hasn’t released a game-specific controller since Starfield, so this feels less likely.
Whatever it is, here’s hoping it’s something I don’t absolutely love—my bank account could use the break.
Stay tuned for updates as we learn more about this mysterious controller!
