Next year, Apple will release its “Low-Cost” MacBook Series to compete with Chromebooks

In accordance with some recent pieces of information, the Cupertino-based tech company is working on a low-cost MacBook series. A report from Taiwan indicates that the company will debut the MacBook series by H2 2024 in competition with Chromebook models.

DigiTimes reports that the new product line will be different from the current MacBook Air and Pro series. The sources claim that the appearance of the new product might be similar to the existing models, but it will be based on different materials. Furthermore, the report claims that it will include cheap mechanical components. It seems doubtful that the rumored new MacBook series will emerge in the first half of next year given the apparent lack of activity at key Apple suppliers like Quanta Computer and Foxconn.

According to DigiTimes Research, in 2019, 13.9 million Chromebooks were shipped. The number grew to 30.4 million in 2020, and reportedly, 33.5 million units were shipped in 2021.
