Nintendo gives away 12 free game upgrades to fans
Nintendo gave away upgrades for twelve popular switch games for the launch of the Switch 2. Better image quality, higher image rates and even the new Gameshaare function will be available from June 5. Now there are the exact details.
Free upgrades for Switch games
Switch fans can look forward to. Because Nintendo worked hard on his games before the publication of Switch 2 on June 5, 2025. Some new titles for the upcoming console cost up to 90 euros, but at the same time older games like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe receive an update. In addition, the Japanese had already announced in early April that some games received free upgrades for the original Switch. A total of twelve titles should benefit.

The new Gameshare function, which is added to some games, is particularly interesting and enables several players to play together with just one game copy. These improvements are waiting
The improved image rate should be particularly interesting for fans of Pokémon Karmesin and Purpur. The two titles often suffered from performance problems on the original switch, which are now likely to belong to the past on switch 2. HDR support is added to Zelda titles such as on the left Awakening and Echoes of Wisdom, which ensures more intensive colors and more contrast.
According to Nintendo the graphics of all games for the Switch 2 display and high-resolution TV devices were optimized. The updates are ready to launch the Switch 2 on time and can simply be downloaded if the console is connected to the Internet.
Paid upgrades for other titles
As Nintendo already announced, not all Switch games will receive free upgrades. For some titles such as Super Mario Party Jamboree, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Kirby and the forgotten Land, the console manufacturer plans paid Switch 2 editions. In addition to graphic improvements, these also offer content extensions and additional functions. Nintendo has not yet announced the exact prices for these paid upgrades.
