Nintendo Switch 2 Launch Could Be Delayed to March 2025, New Leak Suggests

A new leak hints that the release of the much-anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 may now be scheduled for March 2025, pushing back earlier rumored launch windows of January and February. This update comes from Italian site UAGNA, which reportedly uncovered details about first-party Nintendo Switch 2 accessories set to release on March 28, 2025. The assumption is that the console itself would launch around the same time, as selling accessories prior to the main device would be unusual.

This timeline adjustment contrasts with reports suggesting an earlier debut, including speculation that the console could arrive in January or February 2025. Such differing claims have made it difficult to lock down a concrete launch period for Nintendo’s highly awaited handheld gaming device.

Accessories Point to March Release

While third-party accessory makers often get early access to device specs, the timing of first-party accessory releases can be more telling. Dbrand, for instance, claimed that its Killswitch case for the Nintendo Switch 2 is based on a 3D scan of the actual hardware. Furthermore, numerous accessories for the device have been surfacing on Chinese marketplaces, indicating increasing readiness for a launch. However, the reported March 28 release of first-party accessories is another matter entirely and could suggest when the console itself will go public.

Echoes of the Original Switch Launch

Interestingly, the rumored March timeline aligns with the launch date of the original Nintendo Switch, first released in March 2017. However, unlike its predecessor—whose design and features were formally announced months ahead of its launch—the Nintendo Switch 2 remains officially under wraps. This absence of confirmation or teasers from Nintendo stands in stark contrast to previous practices and has further fueled speculation.

While fans eagerly await official news, the leaks provide a glimpse into Nintendo’s next steps. Whether the console arrives in March or earlier, it’s clear expectations are high for the Switch 2 to continue the legacy of its groundbreaking first version.
