Nissan Confirms The Data Breach And Apologises

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. has confirmed that it has suffered a data breach, affecting the personal information of its customers and employees. The company stated that the breach was discovered on December 29, 2022, and it immediately took steps to contain the incident and investigate the cause.

According to Nissan, the data that was compromised includes names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and vehicle identification numbers (VINs) of customers, as well as the personal information of some of its employees. No financial information or vehicle usage data were affected.

The company has launched an investigation into the breach and is cooperating with law enforcement authorities to determine the cause and extent of the incident. Nissan has also set up a dedicated website and a toll-free hotline to provide information and assistance to affected customers and employees.

In a statement, Nissan said, “We deeply apologize for any inconvenience or concern this incident may cause our customers and employees. The safety and security of our customer’s personal information is a top priority for Nissan. We are taking all necessary steps to protect against any further unauthorized access and to enhance our IT security measures.”

The data breach is a reminder of the importance of cybersecurity and the need for companies to constantly update and improve their security measures to protect against the ever-evolving threat of cyber attacks.
