Nissan Unveils 2026 Leaf Crossover: Affordable EV With 604 km Range & Supercharger Access

The new Nissan Leaf 2026 starts below 30,000 euros and thus remains one of the cheapest electric cars on the market. With a range of up to 604 km and NACS connection for Tesla supercharger, the pioneer, which is converted into a crossover, is to be competitive.
Nissan records the cheap electric car concept
Nissan has announced the prices for the completely revised Leaf 2026 and continues to position the electric car as the cheapest option on the market. The S+ Trim starts at $ 29,990 (around 25,750 euros), while the higher equipment lines SV+ at $ 34,230 (around 29,400 euros) and Platinum+ are $ 38,990 (approximately 33,500 euros).
No price has yet been mentioned for the entry -level model Leaf S. The new Leaf is clearly undercut the average starting price for new electric cars in the USA, which is loud Kelley’s Blue Book (via The verge) is $ 55,689. It is noteworthy that the price is even lower than the original Leaf from 2011, which cost $ 32,780 at the time. A start price for Germany can be expected just under 30,000 euros. More range with the same price level
The third generation of the Leaf offers significantly improved performance data: the maximum range increases up to 604 kilometers per load, depending on the model variant. All models support quick charging and are compatible with NACS charging connections, which enables access to Tesla’s Supercharger network.
The Leaf has two batteries: 52 kWh for up to 436 kilometers range and 75 kWh for up to 604 kilometers to WLTP standard. The fast loading capacity is up to 150 kW, which means that around 250 kilometers can be recharged in 14 minutes. The vehicle also supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) functions.
From the assembly line to the crossover SUV
The new Leaf changes from the traditional assembly line to a compact crossover SUV with coupé-like elements. With a length of 4.35 meters, it is 14 centimeters shorter than its predecessor, but offers a trunk of 437 liters. This design change follows the market trend for higher-building vehicles, but could also offend long-standing Leaf fans. Production begins at the end of 2025 in the British Sunderland, and initial deliveries are planned for spring 2026. In 2010, the Leaf was one of the first serial electric cars and has sold over a million times, but has lost market shares over modern competitors in recent years.
Outlook on the German market
For Germany, prices between 30,000 and 40,000 euros are expected, which would position the Leaf between the smaller Micra and the larger Ariya. Competitors such as the Renault Megane E-Tech, VW ID.3 and Opel Astra Electric range between 33,000 and almost 40,000 euros in comparable ranges. Whether Nissan can regain market share with the new edition does not only depend on the price. The competition has clearly caught up in terms of charging technology, infotainment and driving assistance. It also has to be shown whether German customers accept the new crossover design or miss the classic flow rear look.
