When you hear the word Nokia most people still think of Mobile phone despite Nokia has been long overlooked due to the entries of Chinese Smartphones e.g. Huawei, Oppo and Xiaomi however, Nokia is now expanding its brand business by allowing brand name used by other retailers.
Nokia has recently inked a deal with Indian Flipkart, allowing them to use Nokia brand from their TV category. This is something quite passive by Nokia, instead of launching its own brand name in the TV category; Nokia has allowed Flipkart to take it further with their brand name.
Flipkart’s VP of Nokia brand partnerships said, “The company’s understanding of Indian consumers and its market reach capabilities Nokia branded TV would be reachable, affordable and accessible.”
It could also be a partnership for pushing Nokia brand through giant Indian E-commerce which is a competitive approach by Nokia to be recognized again like it was before.
The New Nokia 55-inch Ultra HD (4K) LED Smart TV powered by Android comes with 24-watt speakers, the speakers come from JBL by Harman which is another partnership in play. The operating system is based on Android however; it doesn’t mention the Android TV. The TV sports 16:9 display with 60Hz refresh rate, it supports Dolby Vision and HDR10, the device is also equipped with 3 HDMI ports and 2 USB ports. The TV costs $589 in India which is still an upscale product for the Indian market if you compare it with Chinese products but you get to pay the price of the brand as well. The TV would be available for purchase on December 10 onwards on Flipkart.
