Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 is also expected in January

The rumor mill about Nvidia’s new graphics cards is bubbling: three new high-end GPUs from the GeForce RTX 50 series are to be presented at CES 2025 in January. In addition to the already expected top models RTX 5090 and RTX 5080, experts are also expecting the RTX 5070.
Nvidia is planning graphics card fireworks in Las Vegas
While the RTX 5090 is the new flagship with 32 GB of GDDR7 memory and a power consumption of up to 600 watts, the RTX 5080 in particular surprises with interesting specifications. It will have 16 GB of GDDR7 memory with a speed of 32 Gbps – that would be 4 Gbps more than previously assumed. Despite a narrower 256-bit memory interface, the card could achieve a bandwidth of 1024 GB/s and even surpass the current RTX 4090 in this regard.
How Wccftech citing its own sources, the RTX 5070 will also be presented at CES. It is expected to come with 12GB of video memory and a power consumption of 250 watts. That would be an increase of 50 watts compared to the previous model RTX 4070. Despite the higher power consumption, the RTX 5070 should be interesting for many gamers who don’t want to go for the top class straight away.
Technology leap forward in storage and manufacturing
All three graphics cards should use Nvidia’s new “Blackwell” architecture and only need a 12VHPWR power connection. The use of GDDR7 memory promises a significant performance boost over the current generation. In addition, improvements in PCB design should optimize signal integrity between the GPU and memory.
Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, will personally deliver the CES 2025 keynote on January 6th. In addition to the new graphics cards, announcements about AI technologies for gamers are also expected. It remains to be seen whether the RTX 5070 will actually come onto the market at the same time as its more powerful siblings – the mid-range models often only follow a few months later.
Performance and prices still unclear
Specific performance data and prices are not yet known. According to rumors, the RTX 5080 could be up to 10 percent faster than the current RTX 4090 despite significantly fewer computing cores. However, it is unclear whether this refers to rasterization or ray tracing performance. While high-end enthusiasts will certainly eye the top models, for many gamers the RTX 5070 is likely to represent the sweet spot between performance and price.
However, it remains to be seen how the increased power consumption will affect efficiency and heat generation.
