According to experts, Nvidia is scrapping its plans and no longer toying with the idea of adding a GeForce RTX 4090 Ti to its GPU portfolio. With the RTX 5090, there should also be a memory upgrade to 512 bits in the next few years.
The Nvidia leaker Kopite7kimi reported two rumors at the end of the week. His often well-informed sources assume that the timely production of the GeForce RTX 4090 Ti is off the table. Apparently, Nvidia is not afraid of an attack from AMD or Intel at the moment in order to challenge the RTX 4090 for the title of the currently fastest graphics card.
Instead, the larger Ada Lovelace chips AD103 and A106 will soon be found in new versions of the RTX 4070 and RTX 4060. So far, these have been delivered with the more compact AD104 and AD107 chips. Accordingly, there could be another boost in performance in the upper middle class. However, further details on this are not yet known.
Kopite7kimi not only seems to be clear about the future of the RTX 4090 Ti, but the leaker also talks about a possible memory upgrade for the Nvidia GeForce RTX 50 series. Accordingly, the future flagship (e.g. RTX 5090) should have a 512-bit wide memory interface. In comparison: Nvidia’s RTX 4090, RTX 3090 and Titan RTX have only offered 384 bits for years.
Although a possible change from GDDR6X to GDDR7 memory will already ensure higher data throughput (21 Gbps vs. 32 Gbps), Nvidia could very likely achieve the bandwidth of 1008 GB/s (RTX 4090) with a 512-bit interface increase over 2000 GB/s and thus double. At the same time, insiders are speculating about an increase in capacity from 24 GB to 32 GB.
According to official roadmaps, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 50 series (“Ada Next”) should not appear until 2025. The early rumors should therefore be treated with caution.
