One billion Redmi smartphones have been sold by Xiaomi to date

The Chinese company Xiaomi shared a big achievement just recently. Reportedly, the company has sold one billion Redmi smartphones until now. Since the Xiaomi Redmi, the company’s first smartphone debuted in 2013, it took Xiaomi ten years to accomplish this. William Lu, the president of the company, shared the news that was also shared by Lei Jun, the CEO of Xiaomi, on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Although the company debuts budget and mid-range smartphones under the ‘Redmi” label, most of the devices come with extremely powerful specs. For instance, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ of the latest Redmi Note 13 series features a 120Hz display panel and 16GB of RAM. It is powered by the 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Ultra chip. On January 3, 2019, Xiaomi strategically promoted Redmi as an independent sub-brand, providing it greater emphasis and autonomy within the Xiaomi portfolio and realizing the brand’s potential and unique personality.

On January 10, 2019, the Redmi brand held a separate launch event to commemorate this change and to acknowledge its newfound independence and strategic significance. Redmi has thrived since gaining independence, developing and growing its product range to solidify its place in the cutthroat smartphone industry.

Lu Weibing arranged an exclusive ceremony to commemorate this sales milestone, bringing significant domestic supply chain partners who have played a pivotal role in Redmi’s development over the previous ten years. In addition to celebrating the sales milestone, this event enhanced the relationships with partners who have been essential to Redmi’s development and success.

Since its launch in 2013, the Redmi series from the firm has advanced significantly. Entry-level phones dominated the Redmi series for a while. These days, that couldn’t be further from reality. With its Redmi series, Xiaomi is attempting to offer value, and it is clear that customers appreciate it. It’s difficult to argue against Xiaomi reaching this significant milestone.
