One Ui 8 beta should start this month

One UI 8 is in the starting blocks earlier than expected. Samsung is already planning the Beta-Start on Android-16 base for the third May week and drastically shortens the update cycle. However, the big question remains which new functions are to be expected.

Earlier than expected: one ui 8 beta still in May

Samsung seems to move forward with the development of One UI 8 at a record pace. According to current reports, the South Korean technology group plans to start its beta program for the next version of its user interface in the third May week. This comes as a surprise, since many users recently received the update to One UI 7 and earned earlier rumors from a beta start in June.

The new Android 16-based user interface will initially only be available for selected flagship devices and in certain regions. Experts assume that the Galaxy S25 series will first receive access to the beta before the program will be extended to other devices and markets in June. Focus on refinement instead of revolution

Loud Sammobile If one UI 8 will offer less groundbreaking innovations, but will concentrate more on the refinement of existing functions. This is not unusual because Samsung had already made extensive design changes at One UI 7. The expected improvements include revised system animations and a visual upgrade of the weather app with new 3D animations.

In addition, the One UI 8 update should also optimize some multitasking functions. This includes an extended RAM-Plus feature that provides more virtual RAM, as well as a revised Samsung Dex experience. The Secure Folder and the NOW Bar should also experience improvements. It is also speculated that new AI functions such as “Ai Video Summary” could find their way around.

Timetable and strategy

The early start of the beta program indicates that Samsung has learned from the delays at One UI 7 and is now trying to establish a faster update rhythm again. The stable version of One UI 8 could appear in July, which would mean a significantly shorter development cycle than in previous versions. For comparison: At One UI 6, Samsung started the public beta program in August 2023 and published the stable version at the end of October.

One UI 7 was a runaway in the usual schedule in December 2024. Since Google Android 16 wants to publish in June, Samsung’s accelerated schedule makes sense. The early availability of the beta could also be related to the upcoming presentation of the new foldable smartphones Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, which may already be delivered with the new user interface.
