OnePlus 12 camera is getting a detailed update with the inclusion of a Periscope camera

The OnePlus 12 is surely a flagship for the company, and it’s getting a detailed update regarding its camera setup. Although we have been hearing these rumours quite a lot, this time they’re coming from a trusted source.

These details were shared by a well-known Chinese tipster via a digital chat station. The device will include a 50-megapixel main camera. Along with that, Sony’s IMX9xx 1/1.4-inch sensor will be included with support for OIS.

A 50-megapixel ultrawide camera will also be featured, but the specifics are unknown. OmniVision’s 64-megapixel camera will be the third on the back. The OV64B sensor will be used. That camera will be a periscope camera with 3x optical zoom. To be honest, we were expecting a higher level of optical zoom, so this looks strange.

3x optical zoom is available on standard telephoto cameras. Not all of them do, but many do, particularly on premium cellphones. Given that this is a periscope camera, you’ll be able to photograph distant objects at up to 80–100x magnification. Having a 5x or 10x optical zoom in addition to digital zoom for distant things would be ideal.

Hasselblad will also be in the picture

With all these cameras, Hasselblad will also be a part of the picture, as it will help keep these cameras optimised, just like it did in the past. It will also include Hasselblad colour turning.

Most of the remaining OnePlus 12 specifications are easy to predict. The phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, and a 6.7-inch QHD+ curved AMOLED display is also anticipated. A 120 Hz panel will be used there.

The OnePlus 12 may come with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM from OnePlus. Here, UFS 4.0 flash storage will also be available. OxygenOS 14 and Android 14 will already be pre-installed on the device.

Although we still don’t know how big the battery will be, the phone will have incredibly quick charging. We can anticipate 100W or 120W charging, and let’s hope OnePlus will also offer 50W wireless charging.
