OnePlus 8 Pro Images Exposed With Two 48MP Cameras Launching On April 14

In addition to the normal OnePlus 8, OnePlus is also introducing the OnePlus 8 Pro as its new absolute flagship smartphone in exactly two weeks. In addition to 5G support, the device will have a number of other features as well

The OnePlus 8 Pro is optically largely the same as the smaller model but has a display that is larger at 6.78 inches, according to previous reports, with a QHD + resolution and 120Hz maximum refresh rate.

Improved display with a punch-hole

The panel is said to offer HDR10 + with permanently activated 10-bit HDR. It was also heard that it brings a higher color accuracy. The edges remain relatively narrow as compared to the predecessor.

However, a clearly noticeable change affects the front camera, as with the smaller OnePlus 8. Instead of a full-surface display and an extendable camera module, the OnePlus 8 Pro uses a 16-megapixel camera housed in a circular cutout in the upper left corner of the display.

Two 48MP cameras at the rear

The back of the OnePlus 8 Pro has a camera module in the middle, in which, according to the latest leaks, two very high-resolution cameras do their job. A 48MP sensor of the type IMX689 with an f/1.78 aperture as the main camera and another 48MP sensor of the type Sony IMX586 are supposed to take stunning images, the latter with an f/2.2 aperture and a 120-degree field of view serves as an ultra-wide-angle camera.

There is also an 8MP sensor with triple optical magnification and f/2.4 aperture for the zoom camera and a 5MP sensor for recording additional color data. It is currently unclear which of the sensors have an optical image stabilizer. The pictures also show that OnePlus probably integrates laser autofocus in the 8 Pro and of course also installs a dual-LED flash.

Under the hood

Overall, OnePlus apparently has invested heavily in camera technology. Under the hood, the already officially confirmed combination of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 high-end Octacore SoC and the associated Snapdragon X55 5G modem, the OnePlus 8 Pro comes with 8 or 12 GB of LPDDR5-RAM and 128 or 256 GB UFS-3.0 Flash memory.

Talking about colors, the dark, strong blue is reserved for the Pro model, while the “Interstellar Glow”, apparently directly modeled on the Instagram logo, is used exclusively for the OnePlus 8 – at least for the time being.

No information is yet available on the prices and availability of the new OnePlus 8 Pro. The official launch will take place on April 14, 2020, as OnePlus has recently announced.
