OnePlus 8T Official Rendered Images Surfaced

The Chinese manufacturer OnePlus has given an official preview of its new flagship smartphone OnePlus 8T, which will be launched next week as the new top model for the second half of the year. In addition, one of the largest online retailers in China showed the device in advance.

With the 8T, OnePlus is planning to introduce just a single new top smartphone on October 14th, thus saying goodbye to its previous practice of always introducing a new edition of the spring flagship. The company has now published a video via its forum in which the design of the OnePlus 8T can be seen from an official source for the first time.

OnePlus thus also confirms the legitimacy of a product entry with the Chinese online mail-orders company JD.com, which apparently inadvertently made the OnePlus 8T public in advance. The JD listing has since been deleted, but previously confirmed a number of core data on the specifications of the new OnePlus mobile phone.

Completely flat AMOLED display from Samsung

The device showed itself with a completely flat AMOLED display with a size of 6.55 inches and a “punch hole” in the upper left corner, which should impress with a maximum refresh rate of 120 Hertz. The panel is said to be manufactured by Samsung Display and has an “A +” rating from the DisplayMate specialists. In addition, there is a talk of 8192 possible brightness levels, which OnePlus had already announced in advance.

Furthermore, JD again spoke of a 4500mAh battery with the option of extremely fast charging via a 65-watt power supply. The current Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 was also confirmed as the platform, which with clock rates of up to 2.84 gigahertz can offer more than sufficient performance with its Octa-core CPU. In addition, a 48-megapixel sensor is to be expected as the main camera, which also has an optical bit stabilizer and should therefore ensure largely shake-free images. There is also an ultra-wide-angle camera with a 123-degree field of view that works with 16 megapixels. OnePlus also built in a largely superfluous 5-megapixel camera for macro shots and a 2 MP sensor for depth effects.

Ultimately, in addition to the version shown here in Aquamarine Green, an edition in Lunar Silver can also be expected. The devices each have 8 or 12 gigabytes of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of internal flash memory onboard. At 188 grams and 8.4 millimeters thick, the OnePlus 8T is within the usual range in this segment. The end customer price will ultimately be at least 700 euros. The operating system is of course the new Android 11 in the OxygenOS 11 version adapted by OnePlus.
