OnePlus Pad 4: Solid premium tablet with small weaknesses in the test

With the OnePlus Pad 4, the manufacturer is launching an Android tablet for around 699 euros that relies on high performance with a 13.2-inch display, eight speakers and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The equipment includes at least 8 GB of RAM, 256 GB of storage and optionally the OnePlus Stylo Pro. Our colleague Andrzej Tokarski tested the device. In his opinion, the tablet is particularly impressive in everyday life when it comes to gaming, streaming and multitasking. However, if you regularly make or draw handwritten notes, Samsung or Apple are better alternatives.

The OnePlus Pad 4 is one of the fastest Android tablets. Depending on the model, 8 or 12 GB of RAM and 256 or 512 GB of internal storage are available. Since there is no MicroSD card slot, the larger storage version is worthwhile for many users. Compared to its predecessor, the tablet improves significantly in benchmarks, but in everyday use the differences are usually small. The performance reserves are particularly noticeable in demanding games and video editing.

Gaming is one of the Pad 4’s greatest strengths. Titles like Fortnite or Delta Force run smoothly at high frame rates and maximum details. The 7:5 format makes handling easier, while the integrated game booster offers additional performance options and an FPS counter. The 13.2-inch LCD display has a resolution of 3392 x 2400 pixels, achieves up to 1000 nits brightness and supports 144 Hz. The aspect ratio offers plenty of work space for documents and multitasking, but there are noticeable black bars when watching films in widescreen format.

The highlights include the eight stereo speakers, which impress with their powerful sound and good bass. The optional Stylo Pro supports 16,000 pressure levels and offers features such as pressure sensitivity and gesture control. In practice, however, pen input shows weaknesses: inputs are not always recognized precisely and delays are noticeable. The pen is sufficient for occasional sketches, but the Galaxy Tab S or iPad are the better choice for intensive writing or drawing.

Convincing overall package

The battery grows to 13,380 mAh and continues to charge with up to 80 watts. In the test, the tablet lasted around 7.5 hours at maximum display brightness. OxygenOS 16 based on Android 16 offers practical multitasking functions such as split screen and open canvas, but a real desktop mode or extended monitor support is missing. According to the EU database, three Android upgrades and five years of security updates are planned, but official confirmation was still pending at the time of testing. The aluminum housing houses a 13 megapixel main camera and an 8 megapixel front camera, which is sufficient for video calls. There is criticism of the lack of a fingerprint scanner, as facial recognition does not support all security functions.

Overall, the OnePlus Pad 4 offers a convincing overall package of high performance, large display, powerful speakers and good multitasking software. For gaming and multimedia, it is one of the most attractive Android tablets in its price range. Weaknesses are evident in the LCD instead of OLED, the lack of a MicroSD slot, the lack of a fingerprint scanner and the unconvincing pen input.
