OnePlus’s low-cost phones may see an improvement in camera zoom

The Chinese company OnePlus has recently debuted the OnePlus 12 in China. Reportedly, it is the second smartphone by the company that includes a periscope camera, the first being the OnePlus Open. According to some recent pieces of information, the company and its partners may not waste any time in introducing improved photo zoom technology to more affordable phones.

The Oga Group comprises OPPO, Realme, and OnePlus. Recently, the tipster Digital Chat Station shared some details about the camera specs of some mid-range devices from these companies. The Weibo post details that the first smartphone will feature a 50MP IMX890 primary camera, an 8MP IMX355 sensor for the ultrawide unit, and a 32MP IMX709 2x telephoto camera.

According to a number of comments, this phone is the OnePlus Ace 3, which, if past releases are any indication, will probably be released outside of China under the name OnePlus 12R. As it turned out, a July MySmartPrice leak said that the OnePlus 12R would get a 32MP 2x telephoto camera.

In addition to this, there are references to a second smartphone that will reportedly feature a 50MP IMX890 primary camera, an IMX355 secondary unit, and a 64MP 3x periscope camera (Omnivision OV64B). There are no details that point to the exact identity of these smartphones. if we were to guess, then the smartphones could possibly be the OnePlus Ace 3 Pro, a OnePlus Nord phone, an OPPO Reno series device, or a Realme 12 series device.

However, in the mid-range market, camera zoom has long been disregarded. Thus, in 2024, we anticipate seeing more mid-range phones with periscopes and telephoto cameras available globally.
