OpenAI’s GPT-5 could be launched soon

Get ready to try the GPT-5. Yes, you read it right. According to a recent report from Business Insider, OpenAI will soon launch GPT-5. It might be debuted within the next few months. According to initial reports, the upcoming model showcases significant improvements. Several enterprise users have shared positive experiences with GPT-5 demos. According to a CEO, the upcoming model is “materially better” than other models. Presentations from OpenAI even make reference to autonomous AI agents.

The model is being developed alongside demos. Before the official release, rigorous safety testing for instance simulated attacks or red teaming is very crucial. The initial forecasts for the summer launch may be delayed by this process. Currently, there is no word regarding the release date of GPT-5 by the firm. This announcement comes after a crazy year of GPT-5 rumors. OpenAI downgraded its immediate training intentions in April 2023, and CEO Sam Altman denied rumors. However, there were persistent rumors of a GPT-4.5 model.

According to recent reports, the training of the new model was completed last year. From this perspective, it is ready to be released in 2024. Just like the previous model, this model will be specified for enterprise consumers. In the future, a tier system akin to Google’s Gemini LLMs might be implemented.

Last year, several issues including nonsensical responses lead to GPT-4’s decline with possible reasons ranging from resource constraints to training effectiveness. Some conjectured that OpenAI’s systems are being burdened by the creation of unpublished LLMs. It was further strengthened by a leak from December 2023 that referred to GPT-4.5 model with advanced features. The CEO didn’t share any details when he was questioned about it online.

However, GPT-5 is about to make its entry. We can expect a change in LLM landscape. We will learn about the true potential of this model in the coming months.
