Oppo Brags About New Retractable Camera For Find X4

Oppo Retractable camera

As a foretaste of Inno Day 2021, Oppo has published a video on a smartphone with an extendable photo module. A proprietary innovation that is a hot topic in the tech industry and could reinvigorate the pop-up camera trend.

Do you remember the trend of pop-up selfie cameras from 2018-2019, such as the Xiaomi Mi 9T or the famous shark fin of the first Oppo Reno 2? Apparently, Oppo wants to revive the pop-up camera trend, but this time with a retractable lens on the back of the smartphone, as you can see in the video.

It is impossible to know whether Oppo the photo module is already planning to use the new camera in its next flagship, the Oppo Find X4 Pro. Alternatively, it could also be a concept smartphone that the manufacturer will unveil during its Oppo Inno Day 2021, a two-day event on December 14th and 15th.

It is also difficult to say what such a camera could be used for. It would be realistic, however, that the retractable lens could be used for better zoom qualities.

Major Intend Unclear

As other media reports, the retractable lens shown by Oppo has several notices on it, suggesting that it is a sensor with a physical size of 1/1.56 inches, an f/2.4 aperture, and a focal length of 50mm. This type of sensor is too big to be a dedicated telephoto lens. Gsmarena suspects that the larger pixels on this sensor could be used to capture more detail or create a stronger bokeh effect.

In any case, we will find out more about it during the Inno Day next week. The manufacturer has also announced that they will introduce new smart glasses for Augmented Reality (AR) and a new NPU (Neural Processing Unit). Come and visit us on December 14th and 15th to get a glimpse of the latest innovations from Oppo.
