Oppo Find N5 Teased as the World’s Thinnest Foldable, Launching in Two Weeks

The Oppo Find N3, also known as the OnePlus Open, made waves when it launched in late 2023. Even over a year later, it remains a solid competitor against foldable heavyweights like the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. But Oppo isn’t resting on its laurels. The company has been hyping up the Oppo Find N5 — the successor to the Find N3 and the Chinese version of the OnePlus Open 2 — showcasing a super-slim, water-resistant design. And now, the big reveal is just around the corner.

Zhou Yibao, product manager for the Oppo Find series, shared on Weibo that the Find N5 will launch in two weeks, likely around February 19 or 20. While he didn’t confirm the exact date, he did promise a global launch, not just a China-exclusive release. That’s great news, especially since the Find N3’s availability was limited to Singapore and a few Asian markets outside of China.

An official US release for the Find N5 is still unlikely. However, its OnePlus counterpart, the Open 2, is expected to hit international markets, likely taking priority for a broader rollout. As for the Find N5, its availability outside China may be restricted to select Asian and European regions.

In a post from Oppo’s official Weibo handle, the company shared a teaser video highlighting the Find N5’s impressively thin design, even comparing it to the Find N3. Check it out to see just how sleek this foldable is shaping up to be.

Meanwhile, on X, Oppo’s Chief Product Officer, Pete Lau, revealed that the company has achieved impressive internal optimizations. They’ve reduced the motherboard length by 31.4% using 20 new materials, creating extra internal space for a larger battery.

Oppo Find N5: Ushering Foldables into the Mainstream

The Oppo Find N5 is set to claim the title of the world’s thinnest foldable, with an astonishing 4mm thickness when unfolded. To put that into perspective, it’s almost as thin as its USB-C port! Plus, it’ll feature an IPX9 rating, making it the first foldable with this level of water resistance. For comparison, the Honor Magic V3 Fold currently holds the title with a 4.3mm unfolded thickness, but the Find N5 is about to dethrone it.

Despite its ultra-slim design, the Find N5 (and the OnePlus Open 2) will feature 50W wireless charging, addressing one of the biggest shortcomings of its predecessor.

With its groundbreaking design, improved durability, and faster charging capabilities, the Oppo Find N5 and OnePlus Open 2 are shaping up to be among the most exciting foldable releases this year. Keep an eye out as we approach the official launch – foldables are about to get even better!
