Passenger Transport Trial of the First Autonomous Air Taxi Announced

An Air Urban Mobility (UAM), the government of New Zealand and Wisk has announced to set up a passenger transport trial of a self-flying and all-electric air taxi, Cora in Canterbury.

As per the official website of the UAM company said that it has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the government of New Zealand for the prototype Cora, which is chosen for the trial of the transport.

It also said that the government of New Zealand has announced that it was setting up an industry-wide Airspace Integration Trial for working with the leading, creative domestic and international industry alliances for safely testing and demonstrating the unmanned aircraft in the month of October last year.

Wisk that is based in the US and New Zealand, was announced as the first industry partner for joining in this program.

Wisk the CEO Gary Gysin said that in the statement that the deal would urge the entry of Cora to the air taxi market and it is a sign of confidence over the product and the abilities to form and deliver a safe and credible air taxi service commencing in New Zealand.

Dr Megan Woods the Minister of Research Science and Innovation said that in her announcement that the trial is the first of its kind and the innovative technology of the company and its commitment to New Zealand makes it a perfect alliance for advancing the future of the travel in Pakistan and across the world.

Across the globe, the Urban Air Mobility is an emerging, high-value industry and New Zealand is a lucrative location owing to its appealing innovation ecosystem with the rare expertise, technology and people.

With the deal in place, the planning for a passenger transport trial in Canterbury in now underprocess. The passenger route is first of the world and would be commencing after the certification of Cora by the Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand.
