Password Manager Platform LastPass Had A Major Attack

The popular password manager LastPass has been targeted by a hacker. As the company reports, strangers are trying to gain access to the login data that is managed online. Apparently, passwords are used that come from other data leaks.

LastPass users first discovered unusual activity and discussed problems with password management on social networks. Now it is clear: strangers are trying to break into the accounts. LastPass responded to the request from AppleInsider for more information and shared the findings so far:

“LastPass has investigated recent reports of blocked login attempts and we believe this activity was related to attempted ‘credential stuffing’, in which a malicious or malicious actor tries to access user accounts (in this case LastPass) by email -Used addresses and passwords obtained from third-party violations in connection with other, non-affiliated services.

It is important to note that, at this point in time, we have no evidence that accounts have been successfully accessed or that the LastPass service was otherwise compromised by an unauthorized party. We regularly monitor these types of activities and will continue to take steps to ensure that LastPass, its users, and their data remain secure and secure. “

Data from other hacks

So it is not about a security hole in LastPass itself. Instead, the as yet unknown hackers try to access LastPass accounts using passwords that come from security breaches at other services. The hackers hope that a password was used for the master password, which was also used for other services. With such actions, logins are tested en masse until it leads to success.

If you are worried about your data at LastPass, you can reset your master password as a precaution.
