PayPal and Cryptocurrency will be launched in Pakistan – Tania Aidrus

The head of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s flagship program “Digital Pakistan,” Tania Aidrus has promised to bring PayPal and cryptocurrency in Pakistan. While speaking at an interactive session with the top entrepreneurs in Pakistan at the Usman Institute of Technology (UIT) she made these remarks.

Tania, during her address, said that she is quite aware of the financial troubles faced by Pakistan’s freelancers as PayPal is unavailable.

She said, “We don’t have any champions of ours in PayPal, and it isn’t easy to bring it in the country.”

In order to bring PayPal to Pakistan, the government would have to fulfill its terms and improve its relations with other nations as per Aidrus. She said that PayPal needs a 100% safety surety to be in Pakistan.

Adding, “We need to give them an assurance that if they come here, we will understand their issues of compliance. We will start engaging them in a way that will be understandable to them.”

When the online video streaming platform YouTube was blocked in Pakistan, Tania was its country manager for Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh. Talking about that time she said that the issue was not resolved due to a lack of legal infrastructure in the country.

She said, “While the Pakistani government wanted the controversial content to be blocked and taken down, YouTube wanted a local (.pk) domain for Pakistan first.

It took years to resolve this issue when both sides understood the demands of each other.

Adding, “YouTube was conveyed how important it was to take down controversial content, and the Pakistani government was communicated that if they asked to take down some video on YouTube every second, it would not work.”

She talked about the hurdles in initiating a business in Pakistan.

Adding, “Opening a corporation must not be a hassle. We have to make it simple.”
