Perhaps the Next iPad Pro Will Allow MagSafe Charging

According to some recent information, the 2024 iPad Pro could arrive with support for MagSafe charging. Although the news is not officially confirmed, some sources related to companies manufacturing magnets for Apple products spilled this information. In addition to this, we have come across some rumors in the past that suggested that Apple might be working on wireless charging for the iPad.

In 2021, Mark Gurman claimed that the company might introduce an iPad Pro with a glass back that would enable wireless charging on the 2022 iPad Pro. He specifically mentioned that the company was experimenting with a MagSafe system for the iPad Pro. None of those mentioned above features were presented in the 2022 iPad Pro. However, there is a possibility that the company will focus on these features for a future release.

The company is expected to debut the 11.1 and 13-inch iPad Pro models with OLED displays in 2024. There is an assumption that the devices might receive design updates as well since the iPad Pro has not received any significant design upgrades in the last few years. Apple might introduce the new iPad Pro models with a glass back. However, a glass back will make the device more vulnerable to damage. On the other hand, it will enable users to use the same wire-free accessories and a common MagSafe charger for both the iPhone and the iPad.

In addition to this, the iPad might also have support for 15W magnetic Qi2 chargers manufactured by third parties. As compared to the USB-C, 15W MagSafe charging would be slower, just like the iPhone. However, it will give users a bit more charging options. Furthermore, there is a possibility that MagSafe charging might refer to a Mac-like magnetic charger instead of an iPhone-style magnetic charger.

For the 2024 iPad Pro launch, Apple is developing an aluminum Magic Keyboard that is more reminiscent of the Mac, and the new iPads will utilize the same M3 chips seen in the MacBook Pro.
