Petition Signed Against Samsung To Stop Using Exynos Processors

Samsung is proud of its in-house manufactured SoCs (System on a Chip) and for the time being, it was rightfully so. Lately, loyal customers voiced their concerns and signed a petition regarding different processors for different markets.

The company uses its home-made Exynos processors for smartphones to be sold in Asia and Europe. On the other hand, the US market gets Snapdragon-powered phones. The variation between these two in terms of performance is apparent.

On Change.org, a new petition is signed in order to force Samsung to stop selling substandard products to its customers.

“These parts are inferior”, the petition says, “and there are numerous comparisons online. The Exynos phones are slower, have worse battery life, worse camera sensors and processing, get hotter and throttle faster, etc.”

According to multiple tests conducted by ‘experts’, the Exynos 990 could achieve a performance to power ratio of 13.0/W. On the contrary, Snapdragon 865 was way ahead in the contest with a 19.6/W in the same tests.

The petition furthered its case by stating that Samsung charges the same price for devices with different processors, and even charges higher in the case of European markets.

Samsung’s camera choices do not follow egalitarian practices, as the petition goes. “They also use Samsung made camera sensors, instead of the Sony ones in the US version.”

It was started a day ago and has received nearly 2,300 signatures with no stop in sight.
