Phison Finds No Evidence of SSD Failures After Windows 11 Update

The updates KB5063878 and KB5062660 were considered possible triggers. As soon as the discussion was sparked, Phison announced an investigation. Now there is a first result: More than 4,500 test hours and around 2,200 test cycles later the manufacturer could not recreate the errors described (via Neowin). Neither internal tests nor feedback from partners or customers have so far resulted in information on defective drives or data losses, according to the company.

“We were unable to reproduce the reported problem,” said Phison in a statement. Nevertheless, one wants to continue to follow the situation carefully and observe in close coordination with industrial partners. At the same time, Phison took the opportunity to point out proven practical rules: If you postpone large amounts of data or unpacked archives, you should equip your SSD with a heat sink or heat conductor pads.
