PTCL Becomes Pakistan’s First Telecom Operator to Achieve Two ISO Certifications for Cloud Services

PTCL has become the first telecom operator in Pakistan to achieve two ISO certifications for its Cloud Infrastructure Services ‘Infrastructure-as-a-Service’, namely ISO/IEC 27001:2013 and ISO/IEC 27017:2015. The authorities for these standards are International Standards Organization (ISO) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) respectively. ISO 27017 is basically a Cloud security-specific standard while the ISO/IEC 27000 is a standard the help in keeping all information safe and secure.

PTCL’s Chief Technical and  Information Officer, Saad Muzaffar Waraich said, “These international certifications clearly demonstrate PTCL’s recognition of the criticality of securing cloud-based solutions. Our customers trust us with their data, and these certifications ensure that proper controls are in place, not only to secure our platforms but also our customers’ data.”

The cloud infrastructure by PTCL will help the customers to use the computing resources as per their requirements on an OPEX model. They won’t need to spend on a hardware.
