Qualcomm has introduced a new chipset for mid-range smartphones. This news is coming just two weeks after Qualcomm announced the release of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. The new chipset is labeled as Snapdragon 782G. It is here to replace the Snapdragon 778G+. Snapdragon 782G+ is utilized in the existing lineup of smartphone SoCs. It is basically designed to be employed in affordable high-end as well as premium mid-range mobile phones.
The Snapdragon 782G (SM7325-AF) holds minimal improvement as to the Snapdragon 778G+. It is designed using the same fabrication process i.e., TSMC 6nm. Furthermore, it displays the same CPU and GPU. The CPU features:
As per Qualcomm, the CPU performance of the Snapdragon 782G is 5% better compared to Snapdragon 778G+. It holds the Adreno 642L GPU. thus, making the new chip 10% more efficient in contrast to the previous-generation chip. The chipset is capable of driving Full HD+ screens at 144Hz and 4K screens at 60Hz. Moreover, it maintains up to 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.
There is a built-in Spectra 570L triple-14-bit ISP. It provides support for around 200MP camera sensors. In addition to this, it can concurrently process images from three camera sensors (22MP each).
