RTX 4090 is being discontinued, it will be over in October

It seems that the end of the current GPU flagship is imminent. Production will cease in a few weeks. This is likely to drive up the prices of the graphics card until the next generation is released. Nvidia

Production of the RTX 4090 is discontinued

For those looking for the absolute best performance without making any compromises, the GeForce RTX 4090 is the ultimate graphics card. Since its release two years ago, the GPU has been the undisputed number one. However, it was recently announced that production of the entire RTX 40 series would be halved. How WCCFTech reported, customers will probably not be able to buy a brand new RTX 4090 in the foreseeable future.

Apparently, Nvidia plans to stop producing the GPU in October. After that, no new units will be manufactured. Customers should expect limited availability over the next few months due to the still high demand. Prices are likely to rise again accordingly.

RTX 50 series is getting closer

However, this step on Nvidia’s part is not surprising. The new generation is just around the corner with the RTX 50 series. The design of the upcoming graphics card will reportedly be completed this month. Experts expect a release this year or in early 2025. It is therefore normal that the previous model is now being phased out. On the one hand, this will empty the warehouses, and on the other hand, the RTX 4090 can still be sold at relatively high prices before the RTX 5090 is launched.

RTX 3060 also on the verge of extinction

However, the GPU with Ada Lovelace architecture will not immediately disappear from retailers’ shelves. There was also news recently about the RTX 3060 being discontinued. However, after just a week, there is of course no evidence of reduced availability. Nevertheless, interested parties should not wait too long to buy both cards. By the time the new Blackwell GPUs come onto the market, the RTX 4090 could already be largely sold out.
