The partnership between Samsung and McAfee dates back almost a decade. McAfee is an antivirus software manufacturer and Samsung is the South Korean tech giant. With this collaboration, the galaxy devices like smartphones, tablets, and laptops get the built-in McAfee online protection tools. Recent reports suggest that Samsung and McAfee have extended their partnership.
McAfee shared in a press release that it is going to extend its nine-year partnership with Samsung to protect users’ personal data from online threats. The company has not shed any details on the tenure of this extension. However, it appears like McAfee will stay the built-in malware protection tool provider in Samsung devices for several upcoming years.
Samsung ships all Galaxy devices with McAfee antivirus built-in
The latest research by McAfee Labs indicates that every minute around 537 new online threats are discovered. Given these figures, if your device is not protected you could eventually become a victim of these. To combat such a situation, Android OS offers a set of security measures to keep the devices safe. Whereas Samsung provides its consumers with an added layer of security with McAfee antivirus built-in.
It’s almost a decade since Samsung and McAfee’s original partnership. The original deal ended in 2018. By that time, the companies extended the partnership to five more years and now they have signed another extension for the deal. This anti-malware program runs background scans on your Galaxy smartphone on a regular basis to protect it from threats when you browse the web or use banking apps. According to McAfee, more than 22,000 threats are stopped every minute.
You can verify through the Settings app if you haven’t seen that McAfee powers the online protection features on your Galaxy handset. You should see “Powered by McAfee” anywhere in the “Device Protection” section.
