Samsung buys audio specialists Denon Marantz and Bowers & Wilkins

The South Korean electronic giant Samsung is expanding its portfolio of audio products with a sensational purchase. Samsung Electronics takes over the Masimo audio division, which includes brands such as Denon, Bowers & Wilkins and Marantz.

Four brands in one fell swoop

Samsung is investing its portfolio with the purchase of a series of well -known brand providers for audio products. For around $ 350 million, the electronic giant buys the Audio division from Masimo, the companies announced today. This sells their products under various brands such as Bowers & Wilkins, Polk Audio, Marantz and Denon.

With the purchase of Denon, Bowers & Wilkins and Polk Audio, Samsung complements his own department for audio products, which had already been expanded in 2016 with the takeover of Harman at the price of eight billion dollars by brands such as JBL, Harman Kardon, Arcam, AKG, Revel and Mark Levinson. Masimo is actually a specialist for technology products from the health sector.

The company was recently known primarily through its many years of legal steps against Apple, because the US computer group is accused of violating patents on functions for pulseximetry with the sensors integrated in the Apple Watch. Samsung wants to integrate Marantz, Denon, Bowers & Wilkins and Polk Audio into his existing portfolio. You also want to incorporate the highly developed audio technologies of the brands into the products of Samsung’s electronics division.

This should apply to smartphones, wireless headphones, regular headphones, televisions, sound bars and audio devices for cars. Harman, where you act as far as possible, said that one wanted to consolidate your own position as a leading provider of audio products with another luxury brand like Bowers & Wilkins.
