Samsung Exynos Chips Face Problems With Diablo Immortal

The latest installment of the Diablo series has recently become available and Immortal is also the first mobile offshoot that Blizzard has to offer. While pay-to-win in the endgame has also been criticized a lot, it’s still popular. But not all hardware is equally suitable for this.

As expected, Diablo Immortal stormed to the top of the charts right after its release, which of course goes for the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. Most players are thrilled, the Blizzard title is already considered one of the most graphically complex games you can get for smartphones and tablets – in the Google Store Immortal has an excellent 4.7 stars.

Serious graphical bugs on Exynos

But there is also some criticism and 1-star ratings. It’s noticeable that these are written unusually often by Samsung users, who also complain about graphical errors and poor performance. As SamMobile quote Reddit reported, this is apparently mainly for one reason: Exynos chips, or Samsung’s own mobile SoCs.

These have always had a reputation for being inferior to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipsets, but this seems to have had a particularly severe impact on Diablo Immortal. Because the Samsung chips are not only dealing with general performance drops, but also with display problems.

Because if you have an Exynos-based device you will see various visual artifacts ranging from minor texture issues to unplayability. Especially mid-range devices such as the Galaxy A13 and older flagships such as the Galaxy S10 and Note10 are apparently affected. But that’s not all: obviously, things go anything but smooth on the current Galaxy S22 smartphones. According to SamMobile, (at least) the following devices are affected:

  • Galaxy A12
  • Galaxy A13
  • Galaxy A21s
  • Galaxy A51 5G
  • Galaxy A Quantum
  • Galaxy S10 Series
  • Galaxy Note 10 Series
  • Milky Way F12
  • Galaxy F62
  • Galaxy M12
  • Galaxy M13
  • Galaxy M62
  • Galaxy X Case 5
  • Galaxy S22(+)

The good news: The developers of Diablo Immortal are aware of this and have announced that they are working on a fix. It is not known when this could come, but Blizzard is even considering turning off downloads on these Exynos devices for the time being.
