Samsung Galaxy S23 to attain satellite connectivity feature similar to iPhone 14 series

A few months earlier, Apple introduced an amazing feature with the iPhone 14 series. The new devices were capable of connecting to low-earth orbit satellites spread across the globe. This feature was meant to enable emergency communications. As of now, it appears like Samsung is all ready to introduce a similar feature to its forthcoming high-end smartphones in the Galaxy S23 series.

As per a new report from ETNews, Samsung has collaborated with Iridium Communications. The joint venture is about to bring some kind of satellite communication system to the Galaxy S23. Iridium is known for providing voice calling and data communication services. These services are delivered via 66 low-orbit satellites. Apparently, Samsung has been working with Iridium Communications for about two years to introduce the feature to its smartphones. In contrast, Apple is working in collaboration with Global Star. It brought the satellite connectivity to the iPhone 14 via this collaboration. Whereas  Huawei is utilizing Beidou satellites to introduce similar features to the Mate 50 Pro series.

As per the reports, Samsung is planning to bring text messaging and image sharing [low-resolution] to the Galaxy S23 through satellite communications. Owing to the nature of satellite connectivity, devices require a big antenna to support voice calling as well as high-speed data transfer. Due to this, such features are not possible to be introduced at this time.

If the South Korean firm manages to attain its recent target, then it will proudly stand among those few companies that have introduced the said feature. How far and wide this feature will be introduced remains a question. As Apple has currently introduced the feature for Canada and the US.
