Samsung may release a bigger, thinner, and more exciting foldable phone in the future

The South Korean conglomerate Samsung has been leading the foldable smartphone market for quite some time now. However, the competition is increasing with time. According to rumors, the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6 could be a major upgrade. Although the current offerings by Samsung, i.e., the Galaxy Z Gold 5, feature great specs, they miss out on a few features that are found in other foldables on the market.

It appears like the company is taking things seriously. Recently, a patent relevant to a thin and slim profile emerged. The company has perhaps acknowledged the fact that ultra-tall foldables are preferred by most users. According to rumors, it is a wider device with large inner and outer screens. A wider design might refer to a different aspect ratio. Given this, in an unfolded state, the device will no longer appear as a tall or narrow tablet.

In addition to this, the company might introduce a new hinge design with several housings. In this way, the pressure will be more evenly distributed across the screen, which will eventually lead to a decrease in the crease on the inner screen. Moreover, a new camera layout with modules is showcased on the device’s back in the patent. There is no certainty whether this feature will make its way to the device or not.

There is a possibility that the final design might be different from the one we have right now. Overall, the Z Fold 6 will be thinner and wider. Besides this, some other reports suggest that Samsung is working on a budget-friendly Galaxy Z Fold 6 version. If this happens, then the company’s share in the Chinese foldable market will increase. Right now, Huawei and Honor lead the market, whereas Samsung is ranked third with a market share of 19%.

The less expensive Galaxy Z Fold is anticipated to launch in the second half of 2024, most likely during Samsung’s forthcoming Unpacked event in August, together with the next-generation Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6. Thus, Samsung may launch three folding devices for the first time in the history of foldable technology.
