Samsung mocks Apple for Liquid Glass interface

Samsung mocks Apple’s new “Liquid Glass” design and claims that One UI 7 has introduced various comparable elements earlier. After the WWDC keynote, the Koreans did not allow time to point out the similarities.
Apple presented its new design language Liquid Glass on the WWDC 2025, which is advertised as the largest visual update since iOS 7. The new interface relies on transparent, glass -like elements with light fraction effects and is introduced uniformly on all Apple platforms – iOS 26, IPADOS 26, MacOS TAHOE 26, Watchos 26 and TVOS 26.
But as soon as Apple had started the presentation, Samsung spoke up. The South Korean electronics group used social media such as Twitter/x to mock Apple during the ongoing keynote. “Adjustable apps? Floating things? This elegant glass UI? Looks … familiar,” posted Samsung Mobile US. The company thus alluded to its own one UI 7, which was published with similar design elements at the beginning of the year.

Samsungs tradition of the Apple Spotten
How Android policy reports, Samsung has a long tradition in mocking Apple for its designs – be it with hardware or software. This marketing strategy goes back to the early 2010s when Samsung first began to put Apple’s iPhone in commercials. The “Next Big Thing” campaign from 2012 became particularly well known, in which Samsung represented iPhone users as backward. The Korean manufacturer did not miss the opportunity to point out that Apple’s “groundbreaking” AI functions such as live translations in news, facetime and telephone apps at Samsung have long been standard. These functions have already been introduced with the Galaxy S24 series last year and are now available on other Galaxy devices.

Criticism of Apple’s late AI integration
Even with the Apple Watch, Samsung could not help but a side blow: “AI comes to your clock? Cverse. Our have known for a long time when you are too tired to take care of it. #Galaxyai,” said another post from the company. This allusion refers to Samsung’s Galaxy Watch series, which has been offering extended sleep analysis and health monitoring with AI support for several generations.
The criticism is not just limited to Samsung. Many technology enthusiasts have drawn parallels between Apple’s Liquid Glass and Microsoft Windows Vista Aero interface from 2007. Apple describes its new design as “translucent new material that reflects and breaks its surroundings”, while Microsoft characterized his aero Glass as “spectacular visual effects such as glass -like interface elements through which one can see”.
The users’ reactions themselves to Apple’s new design are mixed. Some in particular criticize the optional fully transparent representation as difficult to read, while others praise the aesthetic improvements. However, iOS 26 is still in the beta phase, and there could still be some changes until the final publication.
