Samsung to Produce 12GB RAM Chips for Phones

Need more RAM on your phone, well here is the good news. Samsung has begun the production of 12GB RAM chips for phones. The announcement was made by the South Korean multinational electronics giant that it is producing 12GB LPDDR4X RAM chips.

Now, most of the Android phones come either with 4GB RAM chips or 8GB RAM chips like Google Pixel 3 or Samsung Galaxy S10.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus ceramic version already has 12GB RAM but it is not using the new module. It uses an older version using 20nm process.

Now the chip Samsung is working on that will offer 12GB RAM uses 10nm process. According to Samsung, this is better as it will provide extra in the phone for the battery and reduce the power consumption.

The phones that will have this new module would have the ability to tackle 5 cameras, large screen sizes, Artificial Intelligence and 5G.

Samsung claims that with 12GB RAM phones multitasking will be much fluid.

executive vice president of Memory Marketing at Samsung Electronics, Sewon Chun said in a press release, “With the LPDDR4X, we’re strengthening our position as the premium mobile memory maker best positioned to accommodate rapidly growing demand from global smartphone manufacturers.”
