Samsung has been testing One UI 4.0 based on Android 12 for months. A few days after the first devices were supplied with the update, the distribution had to be stopped. Now the problem has been found and the company is about to deliver the update again.
It is well known that new releases can lead to errors despite long test campaigns and can be observed in every company. For Samsung, however, it was no less unpleasant to have to announce a complete stop of the update for the first devices shortly after the release of One UI 4.0 based on Android 12. This meant that owners of the Galaxy S21 series, the Galaxy Z Flip 3, and the Galaxy Z Fold 3 were no longer able to obtain the new firmware.
All the more gratifying that the underlying errors could apparently be found quickly. As Sammobile reports, a moderator in the official Samsung forum in South Korea currently provides the best description of the process. “After the One UI 4 update, a problem was found on some devices due to compatibility issues with the Google Play system, so the One UI 4 update was put on hold for a while,” said the Samsung employee.
To solve the problem, the developers must now wait for a corresponding “critical patch” from Google and then implement it in their software. “We are currently preparing a revised version of the software, including a Google patch that will improve compatibility issues, and tests are ongoing,” the official statement continued.
The company does not want to give any time information here, but One UI 4.0 based on Android 12 should be on the way to the first devices very soon.
