Samsung will begin producing phones in Egypt
When it comes to the question of where Samsung manufactures its smartphones the less likely option is Egypt. Well, anyone of us might not consider Egypt as the place where the tech giant manufactures its phones. However, we might need to change our perspective since some latest pieces of information suggest that the tech company is going to build a new smartphone manufacturing plant in Egypt.
This information was confirmed by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. The South Korean tech company is all set to build a new factory for manufacturing smartphones in Egypt. Reportedly, the factory will be built on a 6,000 square meters area in Beni Suef.
The company will manufacture its latest smartphones at this factory
With this new factory, the company is going to create almost 1,400 direct as well indirect job opportunities, specifically in Upper Egypt. It is assumed that the construction of this plant will begin by Q4 2023. It means that this factory will be able to manufacture smartphones at some point in the next year.
Following a discussion between Chairman of Samsung Egypt Jun Su Jung and Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat, the decision to build this new facility was made. This plant will produce the most recent Samsung phones to fulfill the expanding Egyptian market need.
If we take a look at the size of this factory, it is unlikely that this facility manufactures phones for exporting to other markets internationally. The biggest smartphone manufacturing plant Samsung is located in Vietnam. The Vietnam plant is responsible for the global supply of smartphones. In addition to this, the tech company has recently expanded its manufacturing plants in India. Besides this, the company is also expanding its presence in the country. It is reportedly opening 13 new Premium Experience stores in India. In this way, the company will efficiently take care of local demand as well as diversify its international supply chain.
