Samsung’s One UI 7: Everything You Need to Know About the Android 15 Update

Google leads the pack when it comes to pushing Android updates to Pixel devices, but Samsung isn’t far behind. With the upcoming Android 15-based One UI 7 update, Samsung plans to complete the rollout by the end of Q1 2025. However, not all Galaxy phones will be eligible for this major update. Let’s dive into what phones will get One UI 7, its features, and Samsung’s plans moving forward.

Which Samsung Galaxy Phones Will Get the One UI 7 Update

Samsung is known for providing long-term software support to its Galaxy phones. While the Galaxy S25 series will be the first to ship with One UI 7, many older premium, mid-range, and budget-friendly Galaxy devices will also receive the update.

Premium Galaxy Phones Eligible for One UI 7

Samsung’s high-end Galaxy phones typically receive four major Android updates, with newer devices getting up to seven years of software support starting in 2024. These premium devices will get the One UI 7 update:

  • Galaxy S25 series (ships with One UI 7)
  • Galaxy S24 series
  • Galaxy S24 FE
  • Galaxy S23 series
  • Galaxy S22 series
  • Galaxy S22 FE
  • Galaxy S21 series
  • Galaxy S21 FE

Unfortunately, the Galaxy S20 series won’t be getting this update, as it has already received its final Android upgrade with One UI 5.

Foldable Galaxy Phones Eligible for One UI 7

Foldable phones are part of Samsung’s premium lineup, and models like the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 are eligible for One UI 7 thanks to Samsung’s promise of four major Android updates:

  • Galaxy Z Fold 3
  • Galaxy Z Flip 3
  • Galaxy Z Fold 4
  • Galaxy Z Flip 4
  • Galaxy Z Fold 5
  • Galaxy Z Flip 5
  • Galaxy Z Fold 6
  • Galaxy Z Flip 6

Mid-Range and Budget-Friendly Galaxy Phones Eligible for One UI 7

Samsung’s mid-range and budget Galaxy phones have shorter update lifespans compared to premium devices. The oldest eligible phones in this category are the Galaxy A33, A53, and A73 from 2022. Here’s a list of budget-friendly Galaxy phones getting One UI 7:

  • Galaxy A06, A05s, A14, A15, A16
  • Galaxy A24, A25, A33, A34, A35
  • Galaxy A54, A55, A53, A73
  • Galaxy M14, M24, M34, M35, M54, M55
  • Galaxy F14, F34, F54, F55

When Will You Get the One UI 7 Update?

Samsung plans to roll out One UI 7 first to its newest premium devices, like the Galaxy S24 series, followed by older phones like the S23 and S22 series. Similarly, newer foldable phones like the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will get the update before older models. For mid-range and budget phones, the pattern will be similar—newer devices will receive the update before older ones. In short, the newer your Galaxy phone, the sooner you’ll get Android 15.

What’s New in One UI 7?

One UI 7 brings a host of fresh features, including visual updates and AI-powered tools:

  • Enhanced Notifications and Quick Settings: Notifications are now separated from quick settings, offering a cleaner interface.
  • Upgraded Lock Screen: Features like the new Now Bar and support for additional widgets give users more customization options.
  • Improved Animations: Smoother animations make multitasking and app switching more seamless.
  • Vertical App Drawer: Finally, users will enjoy a much-requested vertical app drawer for easier navigation.
  • Better AI Features: The update introduces advanced writing tools, call transcripts, and more to encourage Galaxy users to embrace AI.

What’s Next After One UI 7?

If your Galaxy phone is eligible for One UI 7, expect additional features to arrive in the coming months with the One UI 7.1 update. As with One UI 7, newer Galaxy phones like the S25 series will receive One UI 7.1 before older models.

Samsung will continue to roll out Android security patches throughout the year to all eligible phones.

In terms of hardware, Samsung has several major launches lined up, including the Galaxy S25 Edge (expected in April) and the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 (likely releasing in July or August).
