Together with her colleague Kent Ford, Rubin observed that stars on the edge of galaxies moved at almost the same speed as those in the center. The discrepancy in the measured values led to the conclusion that an invisible mass, now known as a dark matter that holds galaxies together. Tests follow

After months of testing, it was mounted on the Simonyi telescope in March 2025 with a special lifting device. “This task required meticulous planning and precise teamwork,” emphasized Freddy Muñoz, head of the mechanical department of the observatory.
