Sharing voice messages is now possible with Google Messages for Wear OS

Tech companies are adding more and more new and useful features to Wear OS. Recently, we learned that WhatsApp added new features to Wear OS. Now, Google is about to add new features to its Messages app on smartwatches. According to recent information, Google has declared that smartwatch users will soon be able to record and send voice messages. It means that users will no longer be required to rely on their smartphones.

Well, the company has not shared the details of how this feature will work. However, the business claims that the feature will be available in the coming weeks. 9To5Google claims that a new button for recording messages will be available opposite the emoji and on-screen keyboard buttons. In simple words, the app will receive a redesigned interface.

In addition to this, there is no information on whether the audio messages will be audible on smartwatches or not. According to the support document, there is no support for the playback of audio messages. It means that a smartphone will still be required in order to view the audio messages being sent and received. Press the microphone icon in the Google Messages Wear OS app to send an audio message once the feature is available. It can be used to send voice messages as well as for the voice-to-text feature.

For sending a voice message, a voice recorder will open that will show the progress in the form of a bar on the display. Cancel or rerecord the message and send it. One thing to notice here is that users currently might not have the option to hear their recorded message before sending it. According to Google, the new feature for the Google Messages Wear OS app will be rolled out in more regions in the coming weeks.
